Second Week in Milan

Running behind in posting!!!! It is so busy here ... and hot!! so my head is not screwed on completely!
Ok so second week:
Monday: All day at uni learning about SMEs in Italy - which is so interesting! our lecturer is so adorable as well so it makes it more fun. Everyone is always extreamly tired though so a few fall asleep in class daily!!! We walked after school with Zenna who went to buy a LV bag!! As it was the fourth of July, almost everyone went out to a party for it but Paris and i had literally ran out of clothing so we couldnt go and had to do our washing!!! lol, how very sad. However, when it was going we were on the balcony laughing and laughing over the silliest things when we heard Montsearrt and Robberto who are the Mexicans and live two floors up yelling out to us 'come upstairs we have made homemade tortillas! So we raced upstairs and Montsearrt was cooking away with flour all over her! We had dinner with them which was AMAZING! so yum and had some wine and chilled out on the balcony and chatted for hours sharing our lives and stories and such, it was good fun :)
Tuesday: Uni all day; learning about SMEs all day again, and again everyone super tired! After class a few of us went shopping :) we all ended up shopping alone to make it easier - and i had such fun :) sales have started in Italy for summer and wowie everything is on sale it is crazy! and so packed! everyone wants to shop! I got some good stuff though :)
Wednesday: Feild trip day!! We went for SMEs to the region of Piacenza; first to a winery where we had a tour and tastings of the wine there - so so good. the owner was the cutest little man who was so funny and passionate about his work and life; it was so good to see. then we had lunch at provincal cavena which is just a place to eat that is on a property but all the food is made within the location and all the food is sourced from the region - IT WAS AMAZING!!! they feed us about a billion courses! i was so so full after that! then we went to the Granda Padano dairy farm where they produce cheese - it is parmasan cheese but has a different name becasue of the region. IT STUNK! the farm with the cows was so smelly and bad!! but they showed us how everything is done which was interesting, then they took us to the building where they make it into cheese - there was so much cheese! so so much!! its crazy the process they take to make it - it ages for 12-14 months before selling! I got a lovely mirgrain on the way home so i came straight back and sleept - ended up having a migraine for 5 days :(
Thursday: Uni all day but with the morning being Fashion and Design and the afternoon being Tourism - all super interesting (a bit hard to understand the italian lectururs though with their accents and putting ahhh at the end of every sentence!) Then after classes i had planed to go to a Zumba class - but due to my lack of direction and geographical location that didnt go down so well and didnt occur - i will not explain as i dont want to be teased! instead a few of us did a workout on the floor in the living room and it was a good one at that!!!
Friday: Fashion and Design feild trip where we went to the Venizia region to visit a jewerly maker who makes pieces that look like architecture and cost around $40,000 each!!! I ended up asleep on the bus with my migrain :( Then we had lunch at a beautiful resturant with amazing food! and it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere in this tiny area in the mountains. The afternoon we visited the manufacturing areas for United Colors of Benetton which is a pretty cool clothing company who distribute almost worldwide now! it was insane to view how they box up and ship all the clothes and store them - such mass amounts! their advertising and marketing is really cool too - google it!!
After that we got dropped off to a hotel as we were going to Venice the next day :) :) the hotel was in a town that had maybe 2 streets and 4 or so shops lol so we just ate at the pizza place and the 10 of us that went just chilled together.
Saturday: Up early to get the bus and train to VENICE!!!! arrived and walked out of the train station to view the most beautiful city i have ever seen! i was in awe - it is amazing, beautiful, unique and so so amazing! I fell in love with it instantly! It is so surreal all the tiny cobblestone streets and the canals everywhere and bridges everywhere and no cars - which i loved as they are crazy in Milan! We walked the winding streets for hours shopping at all the stalls and market places - i bought so so so so so so so so much stuff and even that is a understatement!!! then we finally reached the square where the beautiful church is but the line was for kms!!!! so we didnt go in. I was in such awe of everything i swear my mouth was gapping majority of the day! we then took a gondola ride!!!!! which was just so surreal!!! it was such a special thing to do as a group and i loved it!!! got to see the house of Marco who brought pasta to Italy!!!! and just to see the city in a completly different way! Then we walked the streets back to the train after which took a few hours - we just wondered - it was so nice to see streets that no tourists really go down to see the quite side of Venice and to know that the locals do have some parts to themselves; as it was super crowded! I just fell in love with Venice, it could be my favourite city in the world now! Took the train back home that night - just went for the day :(
Sunday: got up reasonably early and went to the POOL! it is a massive public pool in Milan that is a big circle size with a island in the middle. spent the entire day there! it was so so hot too - you would feel like you were going to faint and have to go into the water - then the water was so so cold that you would get goosebumps and have to get out!!! So busy there but it was all locals which was nice. You had to wear caps on your head to go in the water too which was really funny! but we did as it was so hot!!
That evening we had a masquarde night in the apartment as it was the mexicans last night becasue they did a different course to us and were leaving that night. So Paris spent around 3 hours cooking about 10 different dishes for all 12 of us!!! And we all got dressed up and wore masks from Venice that the girls got and had a blast! it was really nice to all hang out and just chat and have fun :) But it was terrible saying goodbye to the mexicans as we fondly call them, they are such sweethearts and so beautiful inside and out!

So that was my second week in Milan - amazing so far - loving it so much. I feel so so lucky to be here and to be doing this and just realizing how important and special everyday should be :)
Lots of love to everyone! xoxoxo
